Job Description

Position: Quality Control Officer
Responsible to: Care Manager


During your employment you will be required to:
• Comply with the rules and procedures of the Company and undertake training to meet statutory and development needs of the position.
• To implement the requirements of the CQC’s Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.
• To conduct regular spot checks, supervisions and medication competencies in the community to ensure that care workers are promoting the required standard and a safe service to all service users.
• To audit and quality check all Medication Administration Records (MAR Sheets) and ensure that they are being completed by care workers with all service users as required.
• Update Medication Administration Records (MAR Sheets) as and when necessary.
• Conduct reviews and liase with external agencies such as, Social Services, GPs, District Nurses, and with Service Users their families and/or representatives.
• To liaise and co-operate with CQC and Social Services Inspectors and Inspection procedures.
• Write reports and take part in staff and Service Users meetings and to attend Supervision and Appraisal sessions.
• Provide services in line with the Working Care Plan in the Service User’s home.
• As and when required perform general care of Service Users which includes such activities to meet the Service User’s needs for personal hygiene, such as: bathing; hair care; mouth/denture care; assisting with toileting.
• To encourage Service Users to remain as independent as possible.
• Make entries in the Service User’s Report of Care, which is located in each home, and maintain other records as required.
• To report to the Care Manager any significant changes in the health, circumstances or provision of service to the Service User.
• Be reliable and punctual
• Conduct yourself honestly and in such a way as will not detract from the performance of your duties or the attention given to your work and will not bring the Business or yourself as an employee of the Business, into disrepute.
• Be security conscious, both when in the Service User’s home and when handling Service User’s keys or other possessions. Ensure property is left in a secure state in accordance with Service User’s wishes.
• Undertake such other duties in the performance of your employment, which the Business may require from time to time.

All staff are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters that they might learn in the course of carrying out their duties. All staff are expected to comply with all requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.

All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work, etc Act 1974 and will receive appropriate training.



Normal place of work:

• Your place of work will vary from assignment to assignment.



Normal working hours:

• 40 hours per week however flexibility required as per the needs of the business.
• Out of hours working may be required to meet the needs of the business.

Requirements for Application:

• 18 Years of age and over
• Car owner with Full UK driving License
• Minimum of 3 years experience working within the care sector preferably in a similar role.
• NVQ Level 3 qualified in Health & Social Care
• Declaration of medical fitness
• Declaration of Criminal Convictions
• Criminal Record check to be carried out prior to commencement of employment, and an enhanced CRB.
• Have a good knowledge of the area in which you will be working
• Willing to undertake training prior to and during employment
• Be of an honest, reliable, trustworthy and empathetic nature
• Have a 10 year checkable work history
• Provision of two references
